Dear Northville Families,
We want to update you on the recent situation regarding the incident that caused Hillside Middle School to go into lock down today. We understand that this was an unsettling time for our families and we appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this process.
We are so thankful that, after a thorough investigation by local law enforcement, our school administration, and other relevant authorities, the threat at Hillside Middle School was found to be unsubstantiated and that there was no credible danger to our students or staff.
The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We implemented our emergency protocols quickly and efficiently to ensure everyone's safety. The City of Northville Police Department was at the building within minutes, assessing the situation and coordinating with other agencies to provide a comprehensive response and swift positive outcome.
While the threat was not substantiated, we want to reassure our entire school community that we will continue to remain vigilant and proactive in our commitment to school safety. Our security measures will remain in place, and we encourage all members of our school community to report any suspicious activity or concerns promptly.
We understand that situations like these can be unsettling, and we want to thank you for your understanding and cooperation throughout this process. Throughout the day, we had our mental health providers present supporting the building and our school counselors and mental health professionals will continue to stand ready to support you beyond today. Even though this situation involved a threat that was not credible, we understand your student may have questions and concerns. Here is a resource that may be helpful to you as you discuss with your children.
We are incredibly grateful for the quick response by the outstanding team of safety and school professionals that kept our children safe, including, the City of Northville Police, Northville Township Police, Novi Police, Plymouth-Canton Schools Canine Unit, Wayne County Sheriff and each and every staff member that watched over and cared for your children today.
