Special Call BOE Meeting, Monday, February 21, 2022

Dear Northville Public Schools Families and Staff,

On February 16, 2022, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released updated masking guidance based on current conditions, expiring their Public Health Advisory on Masking in Indoor Public Settings, including school settings.  The Wayne County Health Division (WCHD) announced the ending of its Emergency Order requiring face masks in education settings on February 17, 2022, while the Oakland County Health Division has messaged ending its mask mandate effective February 28, 2022.

The Northville Board of Education will be discussing these changes at a Special Call Board of Education meeting on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at Hillside Middle School.  The Board will be acting on the administrations’ recommendation to make masking an individual choice for students, families and staff in alignment with and supported by the MDHHS Response Plan for COVID-19.

Please Note:  Under federal orders, masks continue to be required on public transportation and school buses, and to remain in school following a COVID positive case and/or close contact consistent with MDHHS ‘mask to stay’ guidance.

If you would like to provide public comment on this mask guidance recommendation, please attend the 7:30 p.m. Board of Education meeting on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Hillside Middle School, 775 North Center Street, Northville MI 48167 either in-person or via zoom, and/or email the Board of Education at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Mary Kay Gallagher
Superintendent
